Progress joined forces with PETRONAS, a world leader in liquefied natural gas (LNG), through a North Montney Joint Venture in 2011. In late 2012, PETRONAS acquired Progress Energy, combining our excellence in upstream Canadian natural gas development with world-class expertise in downstream LNG operations, marketing and shipping. Together, Progress Energy and PETRONAS are realizing a shared desire to link Montney resources to emerging LNG markets in the Pacific Rim.
The North Montney Joint Venture development is a crucial part of our long-term plans to provide the natural gas feedstock to our sister company, Pacific NorthWest LNG, for its proposed LNG export facility on the West Coast of British Columbia. The establishment of export sales agreements with Asian investors and customers will open world markets and secure long-term economic opportunities for local, regional and Canadian workers by generating value from our nation’s abundant energy resources.
Our employees have the skills, drive and commitment necessary to accomplish a unique and exciting goal – pioneering a new energy export business for Canada. We value the long-standing respectful relationships our growing team of Canadian employees, consultants, contractors and service providers has with each other and within the communities where we live and work.
At Progress Energy, health, safety and environmental concerns are paramount in our day-to-day operations. Everyone in our company, from the Board of Directors to the field production staff, is committed to integrating these practices into the planning, execution and delivery of competitively priced natural gas to customers. Since our inception, we have worked with communities, regulators and governments to manage our business in a sustainable manner that generates widespread benefits.
We embrace the relationships we have built with First Nations and stakeholders as our company helps contribute to a bright future for Canadians.
