Mark Fitzgerald, P.Eng., MBA
President & CEO
Mark was appointed President and CEO in November 2016. Previously, he held the role of Senior Vice President, Production & Development. He has more than 29 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and has held senior executive roles in production, development, operations, strategy and corporate development. His background includes time with large, integrated producers across North America as well as the junior oil and gas sector in western Canada. Mark is the Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP). He is also a founding Board member for Classroom Champions, and previously sat on the Board for the Edge School Foundation, a unique learning community where students can pursue academic excellence while striving to reach their full athletic potential.
Senior Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development
Art was appointed Senior Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development in November 2016. Previously, Art was Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Progress Energy in 2004, Art was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Calpine Corporation’s power and oil and gas operations in Canada and also held the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Calpine Power Ltd., Manager of Calpine Power Income Fund. Art also held various positions with Encal Energy Ltd., an intermediate oil and gas exploration company that traded on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges, from 1993 to April 2001 including that of Controller and Treasurer.
Nicole Deyell, P.Eng.
Vice President, Development & Unconventional Centre of Excellence
Nicole joined Progress Energy as Vice President, Development & Unconventional Centre of Excellence in September 2017. She leads the exploitation engineering, geoscience, drilling and completions, and mineral land teams. Nicole is accountable for fostering the continuous improvement mindset and best practices required to drive and deliver on the company’s strategy and is responsible for leading the Unconventional Centre of Excellence on behalf of PETRONAS. She is a professional engineer who has held numerous technical and leadership roles in her more than 20 years with BP. Most recently, Nicole was the VP Reservoir Development Regions with accountability for the subsurface work across Canada, Egypt, Algeria, Oman, Indonesia and Australia.
Kevin Georget, CA
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin was appointed Chief Financial Officer in November 2016. Previously, Kevin was Vice President, Finance responsible for Progress Energy’s financial reporting and compliance, financial risk management and treasury functions. Kevin joined Progress in 2002 and held positions of increasing responsibility including Controller and Treasurer and Manager of Financial Reporting. Prior to joining Progress, he held the position of Senior Manager – Audit at KPMG LLP. Kevin has more than 20 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry and public practice.
Liz Hannah, MCS
Vice President, External Affairs & Communications
Liz joined Progress Energy as Vice President, External Affairs & Communications in May 2017. She leads the Aboriginal relations, community relations, government relations and communications functions in support of the company’s strategic objectives. Liz came to Progress from Cenovus Energy, where she held a number of increasingly senior roles over a 20-year period with Cenovus and its predecessor companies, Encana and PanCanadian. Most recently, she had the position of Vice President, Communications & Reputation Management, which she held from 2010 to 2017. Her more than 30 years of experience in technical and strategic communications leadership includes eight years as an independent consultant.
Neil Horbachewski, P.Eng.
Vice President, Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Operational Excellence
Neil was appointed to his current role in November 2016. He is a professional engineer with more than 20 years of experience in Canadian oil and gas exploration and development. Neil has recently returned from a secondment to PETRONAS, which included the role of Vice President, Centre of Excellence, Development and Production. Previously Neil spent 11 years with Progress Energy in roles of increasing responsibility. He was directly involved in the growth of the company by providing both technical and business experience that resulted in increased natural gas production.
Dennis Lawrence, P.Eng.
Vice President, Production
Dennis joined Progress Energy in April 2015. He is responsible for the company’s production, facilities, marketing, and field operations activities. Dennis is a professional engineer with more than 20 years of energy industry experience, including technical positions and senior leadership roles covering all aspects of the upstream oil and gas business. Before joining Progress Energy Dennis was President and Chief Executive Officer of Endurance Energy, and prior to that he was Chief Operating Officer of Focus Energy Trust.
Abdul Aziz bin Othman
Vice President, Strategy & New Ventures
Aziz was appointed Vice President, Strategy & New Ventures in September 2017. Aziz started his career with PETRONAS more than 30 years ago as a mechanical engineer, and has since held several senior roles in a variety of areas of the business: PETRONAS’ Corporate Strategy Unit, responsible for issues management and strategy development; Gas Business Unit, responsible for strategy and Malaysian domestic gas sales; and PETRONAS Gas Berhad, responsible for day-to-day operation and maintenance of its Centralized Utility Facilities. Most recently, Aziz was appointed Head of Strategic Planning and Ventures for PETRONAS Chemicals Group. Prior, he was Chief Executive Officer of Vinyl Chloride Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS which later became the Chemicals Group. Aziz holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The George Washington University.
