President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Culbert has over thirty years of diverse experience in the oil and gas industry. Mike has held managerial and executive positions with a number of Calgary, Alberta, Canada based energy companies, including Progress Energy, Encal Energy and Home oil. He is currently President & CEO, and a Director of Progress Energy Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company of Malaysia. Progress Energy is a Canadian energy company primarily focused on unconventional natural gas exploration, development and production in northeast British Columbia and northwest Alberta. In addition, Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pacific NorthWest LNG Ltd. Prior to his current position, Mr. Culbert was the President and CEO of Progress Energy Resources Corp. and has provided leadership at Progress Energy since its recapitalization in 2001. Mr. Culbert has served as a director on a number of private and public energy company boards and is a past member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Board of Governors.
Executive Vice President, Exploration & Development
Daniel was appointed to his current position in March, 2009. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, Exploration and has been instrumental in setting the pace and quality of the Company’s exploration/exploitation program. Before joining the company, he was President of NXT Energy Ltd. and previous to that was Vice President of Exploration at Renaissance Energy Ltd.
Senior Vice President Finance & CFO
Art has been with Progress since July 2004. Prior to that, Art gained extensive experience in the energy sector with Calpine Natural Gas Trust where he held the position of Vice President Finance & CFO and previous to that was Treasurer at Encal Energy Ltd.
Senior Vice President, Production & Facilities
Gary has extensive experience in petroleum and natural gas operations both domestically and internationally. Gary joined Progress in July 2004 and was appointed Senior Vice President, Operations in December 2012. Prior to his employment at Progress, Gary held various operations positions at Qatar Petroleum and Fletcher Challenge Energy Canada.
Senior Vice President, Development
Recently joining Progress Energy, Ken brings more than 25 years of professional accomplishment to his new assignment leading the efficient and timely development of the company’s vast resource base. Ken will provide direction and vision to Progress Energy’s three business units and will have direct responsibility for development, engineering and drilling & completions. Prior to joining Progress Energy, Ken worked at Cenovus Energy as Senior Vice President of Operations Shared Services, and previously at Encana Corporation as Vice President of Development Ecuador Business Unit and Vice President Southern Plains Business Unit.
Kevin Georget, BComm, CA
Vice President Finance
Kevin has been promoted to the role of Vice President, Finance, an expansion of his most recent role as Controller and Treasurer. He is responsible for Progress Energy’s, financial reporting and compliance, financial risk management and treasury functions. Kevin joined Progress Energy in 2002 and held positions of increasing responsibility including Controller and Treasurer and Manager of Financial Reporting. Prior to joining Progress Energy, he held the position of Senior Manager – Audit at KPMG LLP. Kevin has more than 18 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant with expertise in financial reporting in the oil and gas industry and public practice.
Vice President Development, East Business Unit
Neil joined Progress in January 2003 and held positions of increasing responsibility. In August 2011, Neil was promoted to the position of Vice President, Engineering, Greater Town and Foothills. Upon the completion of the amalgamation of PETRONAS Carigali Ltd and Progress Energy Resources Corp his title changed to Vice President, Development, East Business Unit. Neil was an essential part of the business unit that explored and developed the Company’s current Resource and Conventional Asset base. Prior to his employment at Progress, Neil held production and reservoir engineering positions at Elan Energy, Barrington Petroleum, Magin Energy, Rio Alto Exploration and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.
Abang Arabi Abang Narudin
Vice President, New Ventures & Deep Basin Business Unit
Arabi was appointed to his current position in December 2012 upon the amalgamation of PETRONAS Carigali Canada Ltd. and Progress Energy Resources Corp. Prior to that, he was Head of PETRONAS Carigali Canada Ltd, in a joint venture partnership with Progress Energy for the development of the North Montney JV areas. Previous to joining PETRONAS in July 2012, Arabi had spent more than 26 years of his oil & gas career with Royal Dutch Shell, and had held several positions in new business development for Exploration & Production, Gas & Power (LNG/GTL), and Projects & Technology. Arabi started his career in Shell as an exploration geophysicist in November 1985.
Cindy Rutherford, P.Land, IDC.D
Vice President, Corporate Relations & Land
Cindy’s expanded role in Corporate Relations includes First Nations, community relations, regulatory and government relations. Cindy brings to this post more than 30 years of successful industry leadership in land management and productive business relations. Building on her extensive experience with a variety of oil and gas companies, Cindy joined Progress Energy in 2002. She assumed increasing responsibilities in land management, and in 2005, took on the role as Vice President, Land. Cindy served on the board of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen from 2002 to 2009 culminating as president in 2008 and served as director of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen from 2008 to 2010.
Vice President Development, West Business Unit
Max joined Progress in July of 2004 and was appointed to the position of Vice President, Engineering in September of 2011. His primary responsibility is to provide leadership for the development of the North Montney Joint Venture. Prior to his promotion, Max held the position of Manager, Engineering and has been instrumental in the Company’s growth and development. Before joining Progress, Max held production and exploitation engineering positions at Shell Canada Ltd. and Apache Canada Ltd.
