Canada’s shale gas and tight gas industry supports a responsible approach to water management and is committed to continuous performance improvement. Protecting water resources during sourcing, use and handling is a key priority.1
In 2010 the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) established a Shale Water Steering Committee. Progress Energy was a founding member of the committee. The committee created Guiding Principles and Operating Practices for hydraulic fracturing.2 These Principles and Practices were released in September, 2011.
Progress Energy takes its responsibility to conduct its business in a safe and reliable manner very seriously. Progress strictly complies with all environmental legislation in all aspects of our work. In addition, Progress Energy meets or exceeds all of the CAPP Hydraulic Fracturing Operating Practices, and has developed documentation on our process for conformance.
Further information on how Progress Energy has developed processes for conformance with the CAPP Hydraulic Fracturing Operating Practices can be requested by contacting regulatoryaffairs@progressenergy.com
